Dawiso Joins Databricks Marketplace as MCP Provider for Data Catalog
While most integrations offer read-only access, Dawiso enables AI agents to actively document, govern, and enrich metadata as they work.
Prague, May 20 — Dawiso, a platform for managing business context and data governance, announces its listing in the Databricks MCP Marketplace. Dawiso is one of the first independent tools outside of Databricks’ original launch partners to receive approval for listing.
AI Agents That Don’t Just Consume Governance but Participate in It
The integration is built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard that enables AI agents to access context and tools outside their native environment, without the overhead of custom translation layers. Databricks is one of the few platforms that natively supports MCP servers within its agentic workflows, making it an ideal environment for this kind of deep integration.
What sets Dawiso apart is its write-back capability. When an agent running on the Databricks platform builds a pipeline, transforms data, or creates new assets, it can document everything in Dawiso in real time. No retrospective cleanup. No “we’ll add metadata later” that never happens. Governance becomes part of the workflow itself.
Agents can write descriptions, create new objects, define business terms, and publish documentation. All scoped to the permissions of the user running the agent.
A Two-Way Integration with the Databricks Ecosystem
The Dawiso–Databricks integration goes beyond MCP. It includes:
- Unity Catalog write-back — metadata and business context managed in Dawiso can be propagated back directly into Unity Catalog, Databricks’ unified and open governance solution for data and AI.
- Databricks Data Quality Monitoring integration — Dawiso connects to Databricks Data Quality Monitoring, allowing teams to maintain their business context layer in Dawiso while leveraging Databricks as the data quality engine.
- Powerful scanner — Dawiso’s Databricks scanner delivers deep metadata extraction across the platform.
With these integrations, Dawiso and Databricks combine cataloging, governance, AI-readiness, and bidirectional data flow in a single platform.
Why Databricks + Dawiso
Databricks is one of the leading cloud data and AI platforms on the market. With Dawiso’s context layer and Genie, Databricks’ AI agent that lets any employee chat with their data and get trusted answers instantly, companies gain a well-governed, well-documented business context layer ready for your AI.
“We’ve spent weeks testing and refining this integration, and what excites me most is watching AI agents actually participate in data governance. An agent can build a pipeline and document its own work in real time. That’s a fundamental shift in how we think about metadata management.” — Samuel Nagy, VP of Strategic Growth, Dawiso
