Dawiso 2025.5 LTS: Update Delivers Smarter Automation and even Easier Customization

Dawiso, the all-in-one platform for modern data governance, has released version 2025.5. This update introduces expanded automation capabilities, and enhanced support for package customization through comprehensive documentation. It also brings user interface refinements and improved permission handling, making Dawiso even more aligned with the needs of enterprise environments.

Smarter automation that saves time and effort

In data governance, a lot of work still happens manually. Like tagging objects, updating statuses, and assigning owners. It’s time-consuming, repetitive, and often unrealistic to expect teams to do it all by hand. That’s why we have built our enhanced automation in Dawiso.

With the 2025.5 update, Dawiso now supports smarter automation rules that reduce manual effort and help you keep your metadata consistent. Automate things like tagging, ownership assignment, workflow approvals, and notifications, based on specific events, conditions, or schedules.

Automation in Dawiso: Now customizable to fit your workflows

  1. Trigger or Schedule – Decide when the rule should run (e.g., daily at midnight to check for expiring documents).
  2. Stream – Define what objects the rule applies to using filters (e.g., all documents expiring in the next 30 days).
  3. Actions – Choose what happens next (e.g., notify the responsible steward to take action).

What does that mean in practice?

Imagine scanning a new database and tagging one table as containing GDPR-sensitive data (PII). Instead of manually tagging every related object across layers, Dawiso can now automatically tag all connected elements, such as input tables or source objects, with the same classification. It’s fast, consistent, and a huge time-saver.

The same applies to workflows. For example:

  • You can automatically mark scanned objects as approved if they meet certain criteria.
  • When a Business Term is switched to the approved state, all its synonyms can automatically follow.
  • You can set table types that don’t require further review to skip the “in review” state entirely.
  • Ownership can be set up by domain, automatically assigning the right owner to all terms in a specific area.

You define the rules, Dawiso does the rest.

With each release, our automation engine is getting closer to acting like a digital data steward. One that follows your governance rules and saves your team time. When set up well, automation can save up to 2 hours per week for data stewards, letting them focus on higher-value tasks instead of repetitive tagging and updates.

This release expands on earlier capabilities by introducing even more triggers and actions. You can now detect changes across related objects and run actions like attribute updates, workflow transitions, and notifications, even Tableau writebacks, with minimal effort.

Quick Start into Packages: Easier customization for admins

To simplify environment configuration, Dawiso has launched a new Quick Start guide for Packages. This documentation will provide you a step-by-step guide to configuring Dawiso. Packages are low-code building blocks that define applications, dashboards, icons, and more. They allow admins to tailor Dawiso to fit their organization’s structure, terminology, and governance processes.

The new documentation includes tutorials on:

  • Tailor your environment to fit your needs
  • Create custom applications
  • Adjust dashboards, settings, and components

Additional updates

Refined notifications

To improve focus and clarity, Dawiso now shows a compact “9+” badge for notification counts above nine. Users can also filter their notifications to display only unread messages.

Copy object with children

Users can now duplicate any object and optionally include all its child elements. This is especially useful when duplicating templates or creating similar documentation or data models.

Disable page access requests

In enterprise environments using external identity and access management tools like Active Directory, Dawiso now supports turning off access request buttons. Admins can configure a custom message to appear instead, directing users to internal access procedures.
